Why I Started YoungStars Hope Foundation–Africa

My journey began in an underprivileged family where I experienced firsthand the challenges that many young people and families face every day. Throughout my academic journey, I was fortunate to receive support from generous individuals who believed in my potential when my family could not meet every financial need. Their kindness changed the direction of my life and planted in me a deep desire to one day become a source of hope for others.

As I grew older, I became increasingly aware that my story was not unique. Across our communities, I witnessed bright and talented young people abandon their education because of financial hardship, family instability, or circumstances beyond their control. I saw parents make enormous sacrifices to educate their children, only to watch some lose hope, become involved in drugs and substance abuse, crime, or other destructive behaviours after failing to find opportunities. Many silently battled depression, anxiety, and hopelessness because they lacked guidance, mentorship, and a support system.

I also observed that countless students struggle academically not because they lack intelligence, but because they have never been taught effective study skills, critical thinking, or how to learn efficiently. Others face hidden health conditions such as asthma, allergies, and other medical challenges that affect their academic performance without being recognized or addressed. At the same time, many graduates leave universities full of dreams and ambition but encounter limited employment opportunities, inadequate career guidance, and few pathways to develop practical skills or meaningful livelihoods.

Another concern that deeply touched my heart was the untapped potential of our young people. I met many who possessed exceptional talents, innovative ideas, entrepreneurial dreams, and leadership abilities, yet had no platform to nurture those gifts.

These realities convinced me that solving youth challenges requires more than financial assistance alone. Young people need opportunities and platforms to discover their purpose, develop their talents, strengthen their character, build practical skills, grow spiritually, and become responsible leaders capable of transforming their communities.

This vision led to the birth of YoungStars Hope Foundation–Africa.

The Foundation exists to create opportunities where none exist, restore hope where it has been lost, and unlock the God-given potential within every young person. Through comprehensive programs in education, mentorship, leadership development, entrepreneurship, innovation, health awareness, environmental stewardship, life skills, career development, talent nurturing, community service, and spiritual growth, we seek to empower young people to rise above limitations and become changemakers in their families, communities, and across Africa.

We believe that every young person carries unique gifts waiting to be discovered. With the right guidance, training, encouragement, and opportunities, they can become innovators, entrepreneurs, professionals, servants of God, and ethical leaders who create lasting solutions to society's greatest challenges.

YoungStars Hope Foundation–Africa is committed to ensure that no young person is defined by poverty, lack of opportunity, or difficult circumstances. Instead, we envision a generation that is empowered, resilient, faith-driven, innovative, compassionate, and equipped to transform Africa for generations to come.
